gymnastics, cold weather, and college

Fun busy weekend. Mariah and 3 friends set a world record by taking part in a Hand Stand moment to set the world record for the most people doing hand stands at the same time. I will post a photo soon.

Drew had his last day of work on Saturday and the temp do not leave the 60's for sure not pool weather.

Drew is still on restriction for his movie adventure and is a really good sport about the whole scene. Parenting is the hardest thing ever and I question myself often.

Had a crazy week and melt down last week over Mariah wearing a bra and considering the possibilities of homeschooling both kids. Still thinking and researching so the answer is still unknown.

I coached the varsity soccer team Friday night and learned alot about myself and my abilities. The game was so physical and I thought I missed the memo and for got our American football PADS and we brought the wrong balls. We had lots of angles looking over us and are thankful for only minor injuries.

Doug was away in New York and Myrtle Beach until Sunday and I must admit how nice it is to have him home to help. I love him to bits and miss him so much when he is away.

Doug is going back to school starting this Friday. Now I will have to supervise 3 students and make sure all 3 are getting there work done and are making good grades.

Class is going great at Duke, lots of changes in the department which are good but the bottom line ....love my students.

cheers to u and yours

Remember...

I remember this day 10 years ago, I was at a meeting for the auction of Duke School For Children, Drew was at school and enjoying his kindergarden day. I remember someone saying something awful had happened and we went downstairs to look at the tv I was speechless and chose to leave immediately. I called the school to check and make sure all was ok and went home to literally sit in front of the television, I was so close I could reach out and touch it. i stayed glued to the tv until it was time to go to the studio and pick up Drew. I don't remember what we did after that but I kept the tv off when Drew was in the room or area I didn't want him to see or hear the media, I wanted to explain and discuss all the details he was interested in for a little 5 year olds mind.
What i'm doing this morning besides taking some time to blog is thinking about my drive to the airport to drop Doug off for his work trip to New York. He was reminding me of important things and I kept thinking in my mind is it really necessary to fly today September 11, 2011? As I type the plan should be departing for JFK and my prayer is that he is safe and arrives feeling a peace and calmness around him. After I dropped him I thought I was going to come back home and go back to sleep like I usually do but I had to much on my mind so I headed to Dunkin Doughnuts got a large coffee and some doughnuts for the kids when they wake up and headed home, the day is beautiful and it feels wonderful outside now. We are going to church and then for lunch, Drew has basketball training and I will finally get my washer and dryer delivered. Tonight will be some type of remembrance service at church so I plan on attending.
Prayers for a peaceful day for all>>>

Our Yard!

Not sure why some of my posts are missing but will look into this. I have started teaching again and have more classes than usual. Lots of students and a feeling that I am going to have a great semester. The first day of class was Monday and I had some interesting events, one guys came in his speedos and with out shoes...I was confused thinking he was taking a class in the pool but much to my surprise he was enrolled in Social Dance and just got confused on the dress code... I told him he had to go put some clothes on and he returned in his pajama pants perfect I can work with this. I also played a bit of charades with my asian population in trying to describe and explain slack, dress pants and dress shoes, loafers, I passed the test because they arrived with proper footwear yesterday!!
I taught SHAG yesterday or should I say introduced the basic not positive how many students will remember on Monday but a funny time was when a girl thought that I was explain Shag as a SLUT dance when I was saying SLOT dance, we laughed alot and I made a mental not that I have to speak clearly as English is not the first language for alot of my kids.
Looking at my class I could not believe that in 3 short years Drew will be on his way to college and i'm trying to prepare him. He has a strong schedule this year and teachers expectations are high which I appreciate but can you tell me why Chemistry has to be my new enemy wow I am trying and focusing on helping him in all the ways that I can, praying that God sees us through and trying to remember this is a school course and not life devastating. On another note he has a tutor that is super, i'm ordering him a smart-pen to help with note taking and lectures. We have a goal for the course and that is to finish with a B and I am determined, let the games begin!!
Excited about a friend from the DR that will arrive tonight and be staying for a few weeks, she will be hanging and helping and we are looking forward to having her.
Its time to get ready for class, I have my Latin dance this AM. Happy to put a few thoughts to words.

University of Arkansas at Fayetteville

As I sit here on my bed at the Days Inn in Fayetteville I have some random thoughts I wanted to blog so that when I read this a year from now I will remember.
I ordered a college dorm packet for Omar and had it shipped to the house and it had almost everything in it that we will need to set up his room. The box was big and I needed to get it into a suitcase that I could check at the airport because I was flying to Atlanta to meet Omar and Beronica to then take another flight to Northwest Arkansas. Doug came to the rescue as usual and was able to get into one suitcase
a comforter
egg crate
mattress pad
2 pillows
2 sets of sheets
4 bath towels
2 was clots
hamper
blanket
storage thingie
winter coat
hat
workout gloves
hat
scarf
im sure there were a few other things but omg this was amazing.
Arrive at the airport in Northwest Arkansas was a different experience, we exited the plane and walked down this area that was so strange it did not feel like an airport it felt more like an open warehouse or unused barn. We got all our luggage and went to get our rental car and told the guy yes we were domestic partners and co parents so we got our car and barley fit all the luggage I mean we didn't have an extra inch, crazy. Another first was that there was not a person or attendant there for Budget to look over the car and make sure there were no scratches or other problems just find your car and drive through the country on winding roads and changing speed limits for what seemed like a while until we arrived in Fayetteville got a snack at sonic and drove around looking at campus and the different areas. I love this town or city not sure what it is I will ask so that I know.
Checked in went to bed and woke up this morning with a long list of tasks to accomplish for today.
Oh and we got his phone today...that took forever and made me have more appreciation for being and American..we don't make it easy on foreigners ...hate that work international folks.
Tomorrow is a down day and we will do some more shopping and sight seeing and hopefully meet up with Omars roommate and then on Sunday we will make the big MOVE into the dorm at 7am in the Morning,
Omar is ready, as I watched him today in the international orientation I had only positive feeling of his readiness and maturity and know that this next step in life is a natural one for him. I would be lying if I didn't say that I am not nervous but only because I am 14 plus hours away and cant just drive over and check on him. He has spread his wings and now he is ready to fly and fly he will do to a great and exciting future.
Getting texts from Drew, I miss him and wish that he could have come.
Miss Doug and Mariah and know that they are doing great things in Greenville.
Goodnight.
PS I almost forgot I ran into a friend form grade school in the parking deck today. She was in town to move her son in, who is also a freshman. Such a small world!

PRO-AM
Thursday after basketball practice we went to North Carolina Central University to drop off Coach Kennedy and I decided I wanted to see what this pro-am basketball was about...I know the dance business is full of pro-am but had never heard of pro-am in basketball, what can I say lots of big guys that could play basketball I couldn't tell the professional from the amateur and really tried. I tried different ways were the pros more fit or decorated with tattoos nope still couldn't get it right so I just decided that they all should be on someones payroll weather they are playing in university, NBA or overseas they all look like pros to me!
Not sure alot of folks would agree with me but I am a fan of college basketball and not NBA the guys @ the pro level look like slow old men. Love the passion that college players have.

LOST IN NC
I traveled to take a friend to pick up a van yesterday and got lost. I was so stressed out because I lost him when he didn't take the exit with me, had to chase him down and have Drew help me find away to Greensboro. It was an awful feeling, no map, no gps just plan lost and not a place to stop and ask. I want a gps for all the cars.

TOURNAMENT IN SOUTH CAROLINA
Drew and Doug are in SC at a basketball tournament. Lost the first game but they have 3 more today. Lets pray they have success and stay safe.

Mariah and I are having a girls weekend. We are off the see the Smurfs !!

Moes with the gym team!! WOW the burrito was awesome and Tuesday night kids eat free...We had a blast with the girls from the team and there parents. I LOVED the soda machine, if you get a chance go just for a soda so many choices the one draw back is that there was a bit of a line and the kids take a bit of time with so many choices so we will see how long it lasts. I only wish that I had taken some photos!

Great weekend...We joined the church where we have been attending and are happy with our decision. Drew worked all weekend Friday, Saturday, Sunday and he is at work at I type this post, go Drew your well on your way to adulthood.
This weekend we were home bound and boy did it feel good, really no place that we had to be and time to just chill and enjoy each other and our house. I often think that our house is a perfect resort I just need to be able to use it more.
On a crazy note Doug informed me that I spent over 500 dollars in gas on my American Express, i'm shopping for another car that gets excellent gas milage this is crazy.
Counting the days until I go to Arkansas to move Omar into his dorm I know the dorm and the room and 2 of his suite mates.
Gotta get Drew more soon!

NATIONAL DANCE DAY!!! are you dancing today?

National Dance Day was created by Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer and judge for the So You Think You Can Dance television series. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, a long-time proponent of healthy lifestyles, introduced a National Dance Day resolution to promote dance education and physical fitness across the U.S.[1]
National Dance Day is an annual event and "grassroots initiative to encourage the nation, young and old, to move!" in the United States. This event occurs annually on the last Saturday of July. The first National Dance Day occurred on July 31, 2010, and the second annual event will occur on July 30, 2011[2].
On Season 8 of So You Think You Can Dance at the beginning of the first result show[3], Nigel announced that three choreographed routines would be posted online: an easy routine ("for people that aren't dancers, or are old, like me"), an intermediate routine, and a difficult routine. Nigel went on to encourage watchers to perform the routines in flash mobs, for charity, or "for whomever you like".

Not sure if I can express how HOT it is here but wow Mariah was wishing for snow as we walked into the doctors office today. A cool front would be perfect right about now!! Mariah had an EKG today all did great, waiting for the results but the tech it looks normal. We are changing her meds and need to have this as a base line. Good meeting with Mariah doc this afternoon, Doug was with and we had a productive talk love that guy, he has helped us progress so far. Heading to downtown Durham for a visit with a friend, hope we sit inside.
Stay cool!

I have been on a plan to exercise and eat right for 4 days and I have to say MY HIPS ARE SCREAMING! WHY? I am not sure but this is the part of my body that hurts the most. I had committed to exercise 3 times a week for a certain amount of time but have exceeded that time. I must confess that the one exercise that I truly want to do is dance...only one problem...I am embarrassed to say...I need a partner. I could ask my husband but he's to busy, I will think on it for a few day and let you know.
Kids are great Mariah is enjoying summer by staying up late and sleeping late with only gymnastics to do daily. Drew is doing his community service usually daily and working at the JCC and lots of basketball so we are busy.
Larry is not well and will have to stay in the hospital until Friday, Bille is on the road to recovery and Doug is tired from taking care of all of them and trying to take care of himself, he still has to give himself shots twice a day and eat certain food and take other medication so he has a plate full.
I have been preparing for school to start for the kids and for myself. I hate the the summer is going so quickly.
Hope everyone has a nice night.
Sweet dreams.

Stop and smell the....

I am just so pleased with myself. I have been on a plan to eat right and exercise and have almost finished 3 days and I have noticed as I walk in my neighborhood the different smells of flowers i wonder what they are I would like those planted in my yard. I notice the body oder of my kids after work outs from the gym and have a better appreciation of the smell they achieved from hard work and true passion. I often wonder if I will demand that they wear deordant but Drew has started. I notice the smell of my house and am always trying to achieve the aroma of freshness and hope that we do. The heat has been so bad here and it seems like some days are so hard to stop and smell much less breath but I am so thankful and blessed to be able to slow down and take time and smell the roses.

Home sweet Home!!

Florida was wonderful! I loved my time with Dawn and Mariah and hated as usual how quickly the time went. We woke up early this morning for our 8am flight and left the house at 615am. We were all three going to the airport because Dawn was flying to NYC at 830am so it all worked out great to go together. Just a little craziness when Mariah left the iphone in the cab and we were lucky that the guy came back to bring it to me. Mariah was a bit of a challenge and at times is an angle but at other times she is just awful. I was very proud of myself and kept me cool and really tried to have patience.
We arrived home grabbed some lunch and then took Drew to work. Mariah to the gym.
More to do...

Florida...

What an awesome trip we are having. We arrived yesterday after waking up so early and catching a 6am flight. We spent the day in the shop and Mariah was in her element with Debs cute dog Dorie, the stoning department and lots of activity. I went to lunch with Zach, Troy and Dawn, great Mexican food and fun company!! After work we went to get our toes done and for a little dinner and then home to chill. We watched international house hunters and they showed a couple looking in Sousa, Dominican Republic very interesting but not what I would have expected.
Today has been great I got to sleep in until 10am and then ate breakfast with Mariah and Dawn. We spent time in the pool and it was wonderful I loved swimming, and getting some sun. I didn't realize until after dinner that I got a bit to much SUN.
We are just hanging out now waiting for the storm to pass!
More to come!!

2 of my favorite girls!

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Guess what? Mariah and I are going to Florida on Friday!!! So excited ..details to come...just made arrangements now today so got to get everything organized.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Just sitting down for the day and it is almost 10pm. Where did the day go? Let me just give you a few highlights. I had a conference with Mariah's teacher at the Hill Center and heard about her progress. Dropped Drew for his day at Central Park School for Children. Picked Mariah up and went to look at the dental office she will go to on Thursday. Picked Drew up from CP and then his friend Maggie from Drivers Ed, went to our pastors house to get his 3 children and take them to the pool. Took all of the guest home and decided we need to keep a friend for Mariah to play. Got home and Drew changed for Basketball training and we went and dropped him off. The girls and I came home and they played while I prepared dinner. They played some more and then we took her home. WOW
SO we are back at it in the morning. Drew has to be at Central Park by 8ish and also has work at 3 tomorrow. This kid is amazing such a hard working, driven, determined, kind, caring, sweet, cute, fun, talented BOY and the list could go on.
We missed gym today for Mariah but she will be ready to go tomorrow.
Looking forward to the last day of summer school on Friday.
OH I booked my ticket to Arkansas so that I can go and move Omar into the dorm.
I love my life and really don't want the summer to end.
Good night....

Just home from the DMV...funny story I texted Doug that I was at the dmv with Drew and it corrected the dmv with the word dump!!! I laughed so hard that is the complete truth you wait in a long line and sit in school desks to be called.. but a moms gotta do what a moms gotta do. Drew took the written test on Friday and missed 1 more that he was allowed...Your allowed to miss 5 he missed 6 so we had to go back. I got him up and out by 830am and it was still crowded but the good news is that Drew made a 100% he didn't miss any questions. YEAH so now we drive with him for a year and next July 19 he will go for the driving portion of the test.
The guy was very serious with Drew and explained how diving had cost the lives of 9 teenagers in the triangle just in the last 9 WEEKS! I pray that God watches over Drew and all children and that they are accident free. Mariah is going to the dentist this week and I may be going to the mental hospital! She suffers from anxiety and is so stressed about the appointment that just happens to be on my birthday..I know I so like to torture myself! Today we are stopping by the dental office after school so she can just check it out. She told me that she needs to see the dentist so she can tell him that he can't use a drill..
Wish me luck.

SO tomorrow Drew is going to take the test for his driving permit. Just happened upon this and wanted to post.

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens and that risk climbs even higher during the summer months. More free time, relaxed parental curfews, and less supervision overall combine to create a higher risk for teen driving accidents and deaths when school is out. In 2009, more teens died in the months of July and August than any other months of the year. Below are 10 key safety tips to help your teen stay safe on the road during the summer.

1. Buckle up. Compared with other age groups, teens have the lowest rate of seat belt use and the majority of teens involved in fatal crashes are unbelted.

2. Put down the phone. Sixteen percent of all teen drivers involved in fatal crashes are distracted. Texting or talking on the phone combined with the inexperience of a teen driver is a recipe for disaster.

3. Limit passengers. Don’t let your teen’s vehicle be the party bus.

4. Slow it down. Parents are the biggest influence on how teens drive. Teen crashes are more likely to involve speeding, especially with male drivers. Make sure your teen knows that driving above the speed limit can lead to a ticket (which they should pay for), insurance rate increase, or even a deadly crash.

5. Don’t drink and drive.
6. Don't drive at night.
7. Turn it down. Teens love to listen to music, but it’s important to be able to hear the road noises around you. Also, make sure your teen does not drive with headphones on. Encourage them to turn off the radio and focus on the road.

8. Don’t drive when you don’t have to. If the weather is bad or your teen is tired or upset, don’t let them drive.

9. Wear comfortable, functional clothing.
10. Make sure your teen has a safe and well-maintained car.
I am enjoying a weekend with Drew. Doug and Mariah are still away and Drew and I have gone for basketball practice-game. sushi supermarket, chilling at home, church, mexican with friend and more basketball. Drew has friend over now and the house is quiet and calm. I have meetings tonight and the week is already full with the kids schedule. Drew is doing alot of community service this week and a bit of work.
I am thinking we should take a trip to the beach. I need a vacation.

Friday, July 15, 2011

Yesterday was another crazy day.I took Drew early for a work out with is basketball trainer and when I picked him up he didn't feel very well so I told him have a shower and relax. I get a text that he is throwing up and has a awful headache so I go home to get him liquid and see what up. I encouraged him to attend his last day of drivers ed and he was feeling awful and had been vomiting more...he went and they had to stop so that he could puke on the side of the road, he called and told me and I was on my way to get him he calls me and says that after he puked the last time he felt so much better and could do the drivers ed test. Thank goodness he finished and passed his course.
On another note Omar is going for his appointment for his visa Monday so i have been running around sending him documents and trying to work out his scholarship and school stuff. I always say its never boring when your hanging with us.
Mariah had gymnastics and we tried to dye her hair blue, thank God it didn't work I think her hair is to dark.
Doug is back in action and seems to be on the road to recovery, I would love to hang with him and catch up but life is to busy now.
I was at the airport earlier picking up a lady from St Louis who he may hire to live with and take care of Mom. Doug is the best son a parent could ever ask for I pray that Drew is the same.
Doug, Mariah, Billie Jean and Jill are all staying at the Washington Duke Inn for the weekend and I am hanging with Drew and taking him to his tournament so I may get to catch up on some rest!
Happy Friday
PS Sorry about the huge photos I will try and learn how to shrink.

Mariah and Dasher..summer nights...

Drews tournament trophy.

Drew and teammates!

Drew

Well I don't know if many people read this but I know my mom loves to blog it's kinda like twitter but longer if you get what I'm saying. As many of you know I'm into basketball and apparently I'm a pretty good shooter too, I hit 8 3 pointers last tournament so i feel pretty confident with myself. I passed the driving part of drivers Ed even though I had to get out of the car in the middle of the road because I'm pretty sick. Well I don't know what else to say but I do want to try to add photos so let's see if this will work... I'll blog later but you guys can follow me on twitter @drewdaff34
Doug was diagnosed with DVT and has to give himself 2 shots per day for a week and take blood thinner. He also has to wrap his leg and if sitting get up to walk every 20 minutes. Just what he needs more to do on his daily list.

What Is Deep Vein Thrombosis?

Deep vein thrombosis (throm-BO-sis), or DVT, is a blood clot that forms in a vein deep in the body. Blood clots occur when blood thickens and clumps together.

Most deep vein blood clots occur in the lower leg or thigh. They also can occur in other parts of the body.

A blood clot in a deep vein can break off and travel through the bloodstream. The loose clot is called an embolus. When the clot travels to the lungs and blocks blood flow, the condition is called pulmonary embolism (PULL-mun-ary EM-bo-lizm), or PE.

Today is the last day of Drivers Ed for Drew and he will be able to go and take the test for his permit.

I have to die Mariah's hair blue today not looking forward to this task but will do so in an effort to please her.

Cheers to you on this beautiful Thursday..It feels wonderful outside now!

Hospital visit for Doug...

As I type tonight Doug is being admitted to Duke for a blood clot in his leg. The leg from the knee down is swollen red and hot. I am not sure what the treatment plan is but should hear something soon.
Lets pray that the clot disappears and that he has a speedy recovery.
He has had a hectic day!!

Sleeping.

I feel like I am short on sleep this morning. As I sit downstairs and type this post I hear Drew up in his room coughing and when I dropped Mariah at school she told me don't forget my throat hurts. Well i also have a sore throat and my body is achey I feel the need to go back to sleep. Yesterday was packed with lots of stuff but I am hoping today is a bit easier. I have to run Drew and Mariah to there events and do some grocery shopping but that is about it. Well maybe not I want to get into the studio and dance for a bit today and thought I would teach Drew a lesson he doesn't know it but i'm thinking this would be a perfect day for a dance lesson it is suppose to be really hot here today and the news was advising folks of how to stay cool so what better place to go than and AIR CONDITIONED FRED ASTAIRE DANCE STUDIO!!!
I only have short amount of time left of summer break and want to accomplish a few more project, lets see if I can do it.
I'll finish my coffer and ponder getting started.
Have a blessed day!!

On your mark get set ....

GO! We are off to another week of summer school for Mariah, she only has 2 weeks remaining and then she will have a 3 week break before we start back to Cresset. Drew has work today, Wednesday and Friday. Drivers Ed Monday - Thursday and basketball practice almost everyday. We have another tournament this weekend and it will be at the same location so we should get ready to sweat!!! Mariah is back into the gym this week training 12 hours Monday-Thursday and Doug is at a seminar all week. Im the driver and personal assistant for all of them and it is a busy tough job.
Did I mention that the 5 guys that stayed over went to church with us and all wore Drews clothes I couldn't believe it we dressed all those picky guys and they looked good now the fun part is to wash all the laundry from all the boys sleepover, church outing, swimming excursion and more.
Drew had a basketball practice and it was so hot and I was sweating just sitting there..Drew did a great job and held his own but when we left he took his shirt off and went to wring it and a good amount of water came out..Crazy!!
ok gotta run to get some things finished before I have to pick Mariah.
More move to come!!

Sunday service

I was blessed to be able to go to church this morning with 5 young men and 1 young lady. The service was great and Mariah chose to be a challenge this Sunday. She tests me to the limits and I pray that God gives me wisdom, guidance, patience, understanding, perseverance and abundant amount of love to continue to raise her. I don't know if I have voiced it much while blogging how difficult it and has been to parent Mariah, we have a never ending love for her but I will not lie it is tough. I could have an entire blog about raising institutionalized children and wish I had been informed. I live and learn.
We had Mexican food for lunch and it was the first time that 2 of guys from Drews team had been to a authentic Mexican restaurant and do they decided to just order what Drew had, they said they enjoyed there lunch. Great kids love being around them.
They are now at the pool I forgot to ask who know how to swim so I am praying that Drew keeps an eye out for them and puts his lifeguarding skils to use if necessary.
Mariah is taking a break and missed the pool time but I hope this is a lesson to remember that her behavior is rewarded when she makes good positive choices.
BTW just looked in on her and she is fast asleep, hopefully dreaming about the sweet, kind, caring, calm, understanding girl I know she can and will be.
As the world turns...

Watch #8 he's a shooter....

#8 my friends is the one and only Drew Daffron!!! What a long fun filled day! NC Select played 3 games in total yesterday and did a great job falling short of any wins but oh so close. We have a small team consisting of 6 players and Drew has only been playing with them for 3 weeks this was our 2nd tournament and I love this team, the coach and the parents. I will publish the press-release when it comes on line but all the games were exciting and I was totally exhausted from my nerves and the heat in the gym I felt like I had play 3 games full out. Drew continues to improve taking and making more and more shots, his confidence is growing and the most important thing to me is that he appears to be so happy!
We had the team over for a sleepover and they are still asleep as I type, I decided to sleep on the sofa because Mariah was sleeping with Drew, this was a good choice for many reasons but the 1 reason didn't dawn on me until I heard a couple of the guys quietly go out the front door..aha
Mariah attended the second game with me and could not sit in one place for 30 seconds so needless to say I was thankful to be able to watch the 3rd game in peace because found a babysitter to watch her so that we could go together.
I really never dreamed I would be a sports Mom going to all the games, cheering and so into it but its Drews passion and so has become my passion for this season of my life.
I love my kids so stinking much.
Gotta run to say by to a few kids and get the others moving and ready for church.

The Weekend...

I will always dislike how fast the time is going as I am getting older. I so wish that there was a pause button that I could push to just totally stop and smell the roses or I should say pasta that I just finished cooking for my favorite guy and gal.
Drew worked a long shift yesterday at the J and we got his shirts for basketball and ran home to make dinner. I threw together some mean tacos and Drew and I chowed down. Mariah and her picky self opted for mac and cheese.
Drew had is annual physical yesterday morning and his vision is 20/15 so the boy can see and see really well. The doctor gave him an inhaler and we hope it helps his cough and breathing, this cold has been a pain. Drew asked Dr.Betty how tall she thought he was going to be and she said 6 foot and he said stop playing i'm 5 8 and 3/4 now I am gonna be taller just you wait.
We were out of the house at 730am headed to Northern High School for a basketball tournament. The game started at 830 and the guys had not time to warm up or get ready it felt like the DR a bit with the hurry up and wait. They played a good game and only lost by 1 point. Drew scored 2 3 pointer and the 2nd one was at the end of the game buzzer. We finished at 10ish and came home so that I could make lunch and the kids could chill. Mariah is napping now and does not want to go back for another game but Im hoping with a little power nap she will be renewed and ready to go and cheer her brother and his team on. If not it will be a long game for me. We have to be back soon so I better finish a few chores and get our things together.
Im into blogging and will be back with the results of the game and update you on my sanity later today or night.

Drew Daffron Driving....

Who would of thought that my baby would grow up so fast and actually be driving. Drew had his first day of driving for his drivers ed class yesterday and thought he did ok...he said that he was really scared with the girl that is driving with him..it was her first time to drive and Drew said she had a difficult time and the instructor yelled a l o t .... glad i was not there. He is driving now and it looks like its going to rain, the sky is gray and I hear thunder, we had a storm here yesterday but Drew missed it when he was driving because he was in another part of the area. Thank Goodness.
Mariah is really enjoying her week of not gymnastic she works so hard and spends so much time improving her skills but a break can bring a needed relief. She has been hanging with the neighbors and loves to be with them.
I received a report from the school she is attending and they are telling me she is doing a great job. I was a bit disappointed to hear that reading and writing levels are low but we will keep working and put lots of time, effort and money into her education.
I dont know if I have ever blogged about hating to figure out what to make for dinner. So hard and hate to make that decision. EZ meals is helpful but it gets old to.
closing for now....more soon

Weekend to Wednesday..

We had a quiet weekend..Doug was busy clearing out the storage and camping on the hill behind the studio. He stayed alone on Sat night and with Mariah on Sunday night. I really dont know how he does it..no running water, electricity, toilet, and sleeping in a tent with the outside elements is just not my cup of tea. Drew had to work on Sat and them we drove his friend half way to the beach to meet his mom oh no maybe that was Sunday all my days are coming together. July 4th Drew worked but got to leave early because of the awful storms. we had Outback for dinner and watched a movie.
Drew started feeling bad on Monday with a sore throat and lots of flu like symptoms so i took him to the doctor yesterday for a strep test and they weighted him my baby boy is 5 8" tall and weighs 165 pounds. He is going today for his first day of the DRIVING part of Drivers ED..wow oh wow where is the time going?? He is feeling better and will also head into work after driving.
Mariah and I went with the boys to the Museum again on Saturday so much fun but crazy HOT. She still is in Hill center for the next couple of weeks but has a break from the gym this week. We had the opportunity to go to Hope Reigns again today and she was so happy and pleased with her time with Ester she scooped the poop, brushed the horse and saddled her up and went for a ride then put the saddle and things away and brushed her got water to cool her down and walked to cool her off. The program is amazing and we are blessed to have been given this chance for Mariah to be part of it. So much love and peace can be felt as soon as you step out of your car!
I miss the beach...gotta figure out a way to visit soon!!
Hope your 4th was celebrated with good friends and family and that peace and independence and Gods love are with you always!

Pay check for Drew!

I am happy to report that Drew received his first paycheck yesterday. The total was approx. 191.00 dollars after taxes were taken out and we went straight to SunTrust and opened a checking account. Drew decided to celebrate by going to Quizmos and a movie with a friend and Doug. They saw Transformers and seemed to think it was good. After a long day at the museum Mariah and I just hung out at home and chilled.
Today we spent the majority of the day at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science....Great time for all. Drew and his buddy had a blast, Mariah had a super time and I enjoyed myself even if it was so blazing hot.
We have just finished having a wonderful dinner with grilled steaks and the boys have arrived home from the pool.
Summer life is the best!

Blog new attire...

Slow down summer I don't want you to go so fast!!! July 1 I feel like we were just getting out of school yesterday...The weekend is almost here and I started early again this am..Doug is getting to sleep in and I took Drews DR friend to Drivers Ed, Mariah to school and Drew to work, made some coffee and a bit of laundry and its only 930am.
Drew is so sore from his 3+ hour workout last night and Mariah is complaining about being so sore from her conditioning. I wish I know what the right amount of pushing should be..raising kids is so hard and I truly wish they came with a manual.
I have been clipping coupons for about 2 months and really happy with my savings...lets see how long my staying power goes or last for. We have to keep it up.
I would love to start post more with photos so I have to get my act together and learn how to use the iphone and posting photos.
Heres wishing you and yours a very Happy 4th and a big GOD BLESS AMERICA to all!!

Summer Stuff

The end of the school year brought alot of fun things and a few sad things... Omar graduated from high school and plans to attend University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Drew was a part of a basketball team that did't do very well and we always seemed overwhelmed with homework for Mariah.
Summer is here and we seem so busy and always adding more. Drew took the life guard course in April and was offered a job at the Jewish Community Center this is a new facility in Durham and he is loving his job. He is now on a new basketball team and loves his coach and team which is an answer to prayers and is also working towards the mayors award where he has to get 100 hours of community service during the summer to qualify. He will soon finish drivers ed and have his driving permit so look out world Drew is on his way to having his on set of wheels.
Mariah has been working hard in the gym and also going to summer school. She is learning new things everyday and her body is becoming stronger and stronger. I attended an open house last night at her school The Hill Center and was happy with her progress and report. We try to get to the pool but with all the other things its hard to find the time.
Doug is managing the Fred Astaire Studio in Raleigh and seems to be on the go all the time.
I am the taxi driver, cook, referee, house cleaner, laundry person and personal servant to all of these guys and really am enjoying the job most of the time. I am ready to get back to work come Aug and to see what the future holds for me and the rest of the family.
xoxo

February ---March

Whats happening....We are swing our way through the first quarter with lots of fun stuff happening...Mariah is an amazing gymnast Drew and Omar had rocking basketball season. We have celebrated 2 birthdays this month and it seems as if we are always going and doing so much.
