As I sit here on my bed at the Days Inn in Fayetteville I have some random thoughts I wanted to blog so that when I read this a year from now I will remember.
I ordered a college dorm packet for Omar and had it shipped to the house and it had almost everything in it that we will need to set up his room. The box was big and I needed to get it into a suitcase that I could check at the airport because I was flying to Atlanta to meet Omar and Beronica to then take another flight to Northwest Arkansas. Doug came to the rescue as usual and was able to get into one suitcase
a comforter
egg crate
mattress pad
2 pillows
2 sets of sheets
4 bath towels
2 was clots
hamper
blanket
storage thingie
winter coat
hat
workout gloves
hat
scarf
im sure there were a few other things but omg this was amazing.
Arrive at the airport in Northwest Arkansas was a different experience, we exited the plane and walked down this area that was so strange it did not feel like an airport it felt more like an open warehouse or unused barn. We got all our luggage and went to get our rental car and told the guy yes we were domestic partners and co parents so we got our car and barley fit all the luggage I mean we didn't have an extra inch, crazy. Another first was that there was not a person or attendant there for Budget to look over the car and make sure there were no scratches or other problems just find your car and drive through the country on winding roads and changing speed limits for what seemed like a while until we arrived in Fayetteville got a snack at sonic and drove around looking at campus and the different areas. I love this town or city not sure what it is I will ask so that I know.
Checked in went to bed and woke up this morning with a long list of tasks to accomplish for today.
Oh and we got his phone today...that took forever and made me have more appreciation for being and American..we don't make it easy on foreigners ...hate that work international folks.
Tomorrow is a down day and we will do some more shopping and sight seeing and hopefully meet up with Omars roommate and then on Sunday we will make the big MOVE into the dorm at 7am in the Morning,
Omar is ready, as I watched him today in the international orientation I had only positive feeling of his readiness and maturity and know that this next step in life is a natural one for him. I would be lying if I didn't say that I am not nervous but only because I am 14 plus hours away and cant just drive over and check on him. He has spread his wings and now he is ready to fly and fly he will do to a great and exciting future.
Getting texts from Drew, I miss him and wish that he could have come.
Miss Doug and Mariah and know that they are doing great things in Greenville.
Goodnight.
PS I almost forgot I ran into a friend form grade school in the parking deck today. She was in town to move her son in, who is also a freshman. Such a small world!
