So let me start by saying that yesterday was a great day until the black cat walked across in front of me as I was leaving campus and I thought for a second that I should stop, turn around and go the other way but I looked in my rearview mirror and saw several cars behind me and the other lane was busy so I said out loud, I don't believe in wise tales....well that is until I arrived home to a freezing down stars and the paper that gave the estimate of 4600.00. What the heck this can be happening I thought something was wrong with the system because of the loud connection it was making but thought just a good visit from the repair guy and we would be set. The guy had to shut off the system and said he was afraid it would blow up the house do we suffered through the freezing cold to be alive. Sometimes we say if its not ticks its fleas but we are blessed the be alive and able to pay for the repair. I reminded Doug this morning that the freezing cold was not as bad as when we were in Ukraine finishing the adoption of Mariah and were staying in a room above a church that did not have ANY heat. I have never been that cold and frustrated and was at the end of my rope and with Doug and other friends encouragement managed to push myself to the finish line and bring her home. We were so cold we slept in our clothes, coats and even with the wool blanks we were still cold. I think my tears even froze sooooo last night and this morning brought back wonderful memories. It also made me think that in a few short week we will celebrate Mariah's Gatcha day which is the day her adoption was final and legal.
I also wanted to tell you about my classes at Duke. I have just completed 2 days of first classes and I amazing students and so many its some what overwhelming but all of the students but I am so excited to have this group and be the person that gets to introduce them to the wonderful world of DANCE.
Lots of fun coming up this weekend with our annual cooperate Fred Astaire Seminar. Stay tuned for great news and great pic.
Oh I almost forgot Mariah will be attending her final cotillion tomorrow night and it is a formal event. The question is will she wear my hills or will she wear her flat. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions....What would you recommend....One of my dearest friends gave me the yes vote today at lunch so we will have to wait and see.
