Finally Friday

I have been invited to have lunch with some of my students today. This is going to be a nice treat. I had never heard of FLUNCH and had asked some of my co workers and they were not aware of this benefit to students and faculty. I will let you know how it goes. Just the word makes me smile.

Faculty + Lunch = FLUNCH

Duke Student Government (DSG), in partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Education, is providing an opportunity for undergraduates to take their professors to lunch (or dinner, but FLINNER didn't sound as good as FLUNCH!)

FLUNCH allows students to invite faculty to dine with them at the Great Hall, the East Campus Marketplace, the Food Factory at the Bistro, the Freeman Center and Faculty Commons (Lunch only). The hope is that students will use this opportunity to establish lasting relationships with faculty members they might not have developed in the classroom.

Each student's allotment of FLUNCH funds will be capped at $100 per semester. As always, each undergraduate student may host no more than 2 FLUNCHes per semester. The FLUNCH program does not cover alcohol purchases.
