Miles, Miles, Miles

I read so many blogs and hardly take the time to post on our blog. I always think who wants to keep up with the Daff's when we are living the American rat race like all of our friends.......and then I run into a friend who asks me why haven't you put a photo or post on your blog. I know it is a very good way to stay connected and I love that my sisters read and can keep up but to get on the computer daily and relive the day can be to much.
Ill post about October and tell you honestly I am very happy to have said goodbye to that month and hope the rest of the year makes up for the stress and heartache we endured. Long story short Mariah had an incident at school that she and I had to recover from, soccer season was LONGGG car trouble and crap. Did I mention that 3rd grade is so hard and Doug and I hope that we at least pass.
November will be full of lots of travel for me and Doug and a FAMILY CRUISE thats right folks we are going on a 7 day cruise with the kids and we are so excited, I will definitely post photos and let you know how it goes.
Another note Drew is in love, Omar is applying to college and Mariah is doing super in gymnastics.
Peace,
M

God Bless America!!!

Happy 4th of July!!!
I hope you are celebrating in a way that honors you, your family and our country.... I have to ask myself am I? Have I taught my children what the meaning of this day is and what a blessing that we live in a country where we have freedom....well most of the time. I could do more and I will...This is a process and part of my life long job called parenting...
We are so thrilled that my niece Lauren arrived today. I received a call from my sister Kim last week and she was saying how bored Lauren's summer was and I suggested she come to hang with us in Florida....well a few phone calls and some frequent flyer miles and she has appeared. Drew and Mariah have been so excited about her arrival and I must say I really liked the fact that they would get to spend some time together. Lauren is 16, a rising junior with a drivers license, and a truck to cruise around in an avid reader and oh so smart, beautiful and great with my kids ...I have to brag I think my sister and her husband have done a great job of parenting her and love to see and hear her developing into a productive member of society !!! You ROCK Lauren!!
We have been really busy during our 6 week stay in Fl. Time is going so quickly and before we know it we will be heading home and starting school.
I have to close now the kids are at the movies and when I pick them up will will come home to shoot fireworks.
Much love and peace to you and yours!!!
Many blessing,
Missy

Summer Vacation .....

We have arrived in Florida and so much has been happening. Drew has been working at Dore and hopes to make enough money to purchase some gaming system by the end of the summer. He has also gone to soccer camp and learned some new skills, gotten a farmers tan and mad a few friends.
Mariah has been working with a tutor everyday for 2 hours a day, going to a summer camp she is really like and going to gymnastics 3 days a week. I have been doing a ton of driving and I don't think that I am sweating off the pounds in the hot sun but adding them as I stop at this place to get Drew lunch or that place to get a drink so much for plans.
Doug is in the DR having his dental work done and will be there until July 16.
We miss him and I miss home.
Working on my summer project proved to go good this week I just wish i had more time to focus on the project and less on driving my kids all over SW Florida.
I will post some photos soon. Gotta document the memories.

Awards Day, Gotcha Day and more.....

We are having another busy day in the Daffron household. I really think all days are busy. Drew had a game last night and did a great job, Omar drove us to the supermarket from the game to purchase the supplies for the party we will have today in Mariah's class. I hit the halls running this am with a list of lots to do, we have so much laundry if you could get it all clean at one time it would make quite a nice store. Boys to school, Mariah's school has awards at 10am, I have a meeting with Mariah's teachers and the OT for services, we will have the party for gotcha day with cake and such,oh and there is more Mariah has gymnastics at 4 Drew has basketball at 545 Omar has Basketball at 630 and we will have dinner some time. But in the grand scheme of things this in nothing I am please and love doing things for my family and others I wait now with my phone clipped to my pants for word that all the team going to Haiti are at the airport and that my guys in Dominican Republic is all go for there arrival tonight with thousands of pounds of medical supplies and am praying that that adventure tomorrow to the boarder is smooth and successful it will take them at least 5 hours maybe more.
I am off to continue my day.
Peace,
M

Help for Haiti......

Helping Family Health Ministry folks get from the DR to Haiti on Sat, pray that all goes smoothly and as planned, if you have ever lived in a third world country you know that everyday your plans can change. I want to do more but for know I will wait and pray.
It looks like snow in the forecast and I would rather pass on the cold weather and snow lets just place an order for summer and bring it asap.
The boys continue to excel in basketball and they practice everyday except Wed and Sun and Mariah is going strong with her gymnastics training. Doug and I are just trying to keep the taxi running, restaurant supplied with food, laundry clean but not pressed and a path through the house to walk.
School and grades are what we are challenged with this week but I hope to report better news next time.
I am teaching the 9th graders at Cresset today and have lunch date with the marketing director Julie so I am going to close for now. Hope your day is full of smiles.

Aftershock!!!

I woke this am to hear right away that Haiti had an aftershock of 6.1 I spoke with my friend in the DR this afternoon and she said that the shaking of the aftershock is what woke her this morning at 6am. Please continue to pray for Haiti.
I was in Boca today and I had a great time with Jean Marc, Pam and their staff and students. Dawn, Steph and I drove over this morning and took a car full of awesome dresses and loved spending our time with these guys.
I need sleep so I will blog tomorrow.
Many blessings,

..........................Haiti..........................

One week ago today our recent neighbors had a tragedy that is still making me stop several times a day and pray. I felt my heart sadden when I was told on the weekend that the 2 year old son of a professional dancer I know had been one of the many to loose their life. God is filling his kingdom with many special people. I know that Drew has been touched and shared my emotions the morning after the quake and I thought to myself that I am truly blessed to be the parent to this wonderful boy. I will continue to pray, watch and contribute to Haiti and hope someday I can go to this country and see for myself the conditions and country and meet the thousands of survivors. I have been to many 3 world countries and did enjoy living in the Dominican Republic. I am still asking why this in the poorest country in the western hemisphere.
I have been under the weather since Jan 1 and still continue to try and figure out how to get better. To many sick days and medicine and I so want to be over the vertigo and fluid in my head.
I am currently in FL and will return home Friday. Blogging more, that's a promise!!
Remember to kiss the ones you love we are not guaranteed tomorrow.

HAPPY 2010!!!

Happy New Year!!!

Recapping 2009...... Super Year!!

We brought 2010 in at home in Durham with the kids. We enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner prepared by Doug and I and then cleaned the house until just before midnight. We watched the ball drop and had a glass of wine followed by going outside to look at the moon and each make a wish. We sent the kids to bed and enjoyed the fire while making our new years resolutions. The night was wonderful and I feel so blessed to have a wonderful husband and children.
We set the alarm to wake at 7 am to take Dasher to get groomed and to take Drew for basketball practice. Drew has not practiced with the team since Dec 12 and I was not sure how things would go so I decided to take my coffee, Vogue magazines and sit and watch, he did a super job and impressed me with all his focus and energy for a early morning New Years day practice.
Doug had our breakfast ready when we arrived home and I started to prepare dinner for us. I have always tried to cook black eyed peas, cabbage and green beans for New Years day tradition. We had an early dinner and the food was super if I do say so myself. Doug and the kids are now off to the moves as I type this post. I will work on my presentation for the seminar later this month.
Drew and I went on a mile + walk and Mariah has spent a good part of the day playing with the neighbor. We were also surprised by a guest and look forward to spending time together tomorrow.
Peace and many blessings.
